Major achievements

  • Fifteen VDCs in Madhesh Terai have achieved open‑defecation‑free (ODF) status.
  • Household toilet coverage has reached 100%, up from an initial baseline of 25%.
  • A total of 89,222 individuals (42,779 women and 46,443 men) now have access to improved toilet facilities.
  • Regular use of handwashing facilities has been adopted by 71,377 people.
  • The project contributed to the development of the BCC Strategy 2075 and the Total Sanitation Strategy 2076 for Bara District.
  • It also supported the formulation of the Total Sanitation Strategy 2076 for Pachrauta Municipality.
  • Assistance was provided to establish faecal sludge management systems in Pachrauta Municipality.
  • Ohlabi Municipality, Ward 9 (Gachhitole), with 28 households, has been designated a model total‑sanitation community.
  • Gachhi Tole of Amaw VDC has been declared a total sanitation reward cluster, and four additional clusters have undergone post‑ODF verification monitoring by W‑WASH‑CC for total sanitation rewards.
