The Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project has been implemented since June 2007 with the support of the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Fund Development Board (RWSSFDB), Nepal, in the Bara, Rautahat, Gorkha, and Makwanpur districts. A total of 1,867 families now have access to safe drinking water. The project has constructed four overhead tanks, installed 683 hand pumps, and fitted 731 taps.
In addition, 1,701 people have participated in non-formal education sessions, and 2,225 students and teachers have taken part in WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) sessions. An amount of NPR 230,000 has been provided as seed money to 800 mothers’ groups to support vegetable farming. The project is currently ongoing in Devtal Rural Municipality, Bara.
