Terms of Reference For Motor and Kinesthetic Skills Development Training to ECED Facilitators at working schools of ACTIVE/SAHAYATRA Project

1           Background

Jan Jagaran Youth Club (JJYC) is a non-government organization established in Bara on 24th Paush 2054. Since its establishment JJYC Bara is working on Education, Children & women Development, Economic growth & Empowerment, Health, Water, Sanitation & Hygiene, Governance and Social justice and Humanitarian Aid and Resilience community. JJYC Bara in Partnership with VSO Nepal is implementing Inclusive and Resilient Education projects in four palikas of Bara and Rautahat. The education and resilient project aim to enable the marginalized local people (especially women and girls, the young and people with disabilities) and civil society organizations to lead their own development by exercising the power of collective voice, claiming their rights to better services, and holding people in power and service providers to account. 

JJYC intends to strengthen the capacity of ECED teachers of targeted schools on fundamentals of child development. learning corners, age-appropriate learning materials, and government’s minimum standard. Teachers will be equipped with necessary skills and methodology to transfer skill in facilitation at ECED classrooms. Hence, JJYC is looking for external consultant having expertise in delivering Training to ECED teachers. 

Aim and Objectives of Consultancy Service 

The purpose of the training is to strengthen the capacity of ECED facilitators to facilitate and contribute for holistic development of children.

The specific objects are: 

• To enable the participants to understand the importance of learning corners and government’s minimum standard.

• To strengthen the capacity of ECED teachers to produce age-appropriate learning materials and child development aspects.

 

Scope of Consultancy Service 

The consultancy service will have the scope to facilitate to deliver a 2 day Training to ECED facilitators of Bara and Rautahat. 

• The consultant will coordinate and consult with JJYC for the preparation and necessary support

• The consultant/facilitator will be responsible to do the preparation for training package/module, training materials and take responsibility of facilitating the entire training.

• Submit the training completion report with a seven days  of training delivery

Methodology 

▪ Deliver training in a participatory way

▪ Deliver training in a culturally sensitive environment (i.e. local context specific)

▪ Respond to participants' needs in a creative and flexible manner

▪ Design and adapt activities and materials to meet participants' needs

▪ Prepare training report and submit it to JJYC.

Deliverables:

1. Develop and use assessment tools to measure training effectiveness including pre-test and post

test

3. Design/develop training aids such as handbooks, presentation, materials for the participants

4. Deliver training using relevant and appropriate training techniques and tools

7. Use icebreakers, games and energizers to establish an optimal learning environment.

10. Assess and address participants’ learning styles. Adjust training style, space and activities, as

necessary, to address diverse learning styles.

Preferable training contents.

- ECED minimum standards, learning corners and produce appropriate teaching learning materials

- Holistic development of children

  1. Timeframe and estimated working days

This piece of work requires a total of 4 days’ engagement for 2 events of consultant in training delivery. This task - development of the above-mentioned content and delivery of the training sessions and reporting need to be submitted within 7 days after training delivery. 

Food and accommodation along with travel costs will be provided on actual basis.

  1. Qualifications and experience of the consultant

The training should be led by a professional with degree and work background on child development, child protection and safeguarding training including children with disabilities and marginalised children. 

  1. Minimum a master’s degree in education and social sciences related fields.
  2. At least 5 years’ experience on developing and delivering the content of Early Childhood Education and Development at school level. 
  3. Extensive knowledge on child development; motor, cognitive, social, and emotional development of the children. 
  4. Excellent report writing skills in both English and Nepali.
  5. Capacity to present the content in clear and straightforward to the targeted participants ECED facilitators at school level. 
  6. Submission of Proposal and budget
