Project: SAHAYATRA (strengthening civil society for better resilience and inclusive education governance in Nepal)

JJYC Bara is implementing 42 months (January 2021 to June 2024) EU funded SAHAYATRA project in four districts (Bara, Rautahat, Sarlahi and Parsa) of Province 2 in Nepal under the leadership of VSO Nepal. Main aim of this project is to support on inclusive quality education for marginalized girls & children with disability through resilient, gender-responsive education governance enhanced by CSO engagement. More specifically, the objectives of this project are; to “increase inclusive access to quality education and learning for marginalized girls and CwDs in the COVID and post-COVID context”, “enhance local authorities’ accountability for resilient and gender-responsive education governance”; and “improve civil society influence and engagement in promoting rights to education and advocating for resilient and gender-responsive education governance”. The project will be implemented in 8 municipalities of 4 districts. The total beneficiaries of the project will be 10,000 students (F 6,000; M 4,000) of 20 schools, who face difficulty accessing quality education and increased vulnerability to violence and dropping out due to the pandemic. Key focus area of intervention of this project are: (1) increase literacy, numeracy and life skills; (2) promote parental engagement in children’s learning; (3) enhance palika’s capacity on resilience and inclusion; and (4) strengthen CSO’s capacity to contribute governance and accountability.
