Project: COVID-19 Response Program in Schools and High-Density Low Capacity (HDLC) Communities Province

The project is implemented by JJYC Bara in Parsa and Dhanusha District of Province-2. The project is consortium of the Umbrella Partnership of UNICEF with Noble Compassionate Volunteers (NCV) and with JJYC Bara in Province 2. Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the 2019-2020 coronavirus outbreak, caused by COVID-19. Most of the schools were used as the quarantine and isolation centers during Phase I & II. The schools that were used as the quarantine and isolation centers did not have adequate WASH services. On the other hand, the existing resources were damaged due to the overburden of the people and patients. Thus, the need for the repair and maintenance of WASH services became mandatory. Furthermore, the program activities are targeted to the High-Density Low-Capacity area for sustained WASH facilities focusing on the repair and maintenance of household-level WASH services along with awareness and capacity building of local youth through community mobilization. The project is implemented in 36 targeted schools of Parsa and Dhanusha district of Province 2.
